The Young Professionals Network kicked off the year with a meaningful and informative January Lunch Conversation hosted by Habitat for Humanity of Mesa County Colorado. We are grateful to their team for welcoming our members and creating space for an impactful discussion around housing, community partnerships, and local solutions.

During the conversation, young professionals gained valuable insight into Habitat’s mission and the realities of the housing challenges facing Mesa County. The team walked attendees through Habitat’s interconnected model, explaining how the affiliate office, job site builds, and the Habitat for Humanity ReStore of Mesa County work together to expand access to affordable homeownership. From funding and construction to resale operations and volunteer engagement, the discussion highlighted how each component supports the broader mission.

Attendees heard real stories of impact, learning how families partner with Habitat to achieve stable housing and how community support makes those opportunities possible. The conversation also emphasized practical ways young professionals can get involved, whether through volunteering on build sites, supporting the ReStore, or advocating for housing solutions within their workplaces and networks.

Following a thoughtful Q&A session, participants enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the ReStore, gaining a firsthand look at how donated materials and retail sales directly contribute to building homes in our community. The experience reinforced the power of collaboration, and the role local partnerships play in addressing complex challenges.

This Lunch Conversation was a strong example of what YPN is all about: connecting young professionals to the organizations, leaders, and initiatives shaping Mesa County. By creating intentional opportunities for learning and engagement, YPN continues to foster a generation of leaders who are informed, connected, and invested in the future of our community.

The Young Professionals Network is a program of the Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce.
