The Formula for Growth: Inside March's Lunch Conversation

At this month’s Young Professionals Network Lunch Conversation, something powerful happened. It wasn’t just another professional development session. It was a space where young professionals showed up, leaned in, and were willing to be honest about where they are and where they want to go.

Centered around The Anatomy of a Result, the conversation, led by Jessica Shaffer of Southwestern Consulting, explored what it really takes to build habits that lead to long-term success. Together, attendees broke down the foundation of habit formation: identifying the skills required to grow, understanding what truly motivates them, and building systems that create accountability. Framed as a formula for success, the session gave structure to something that can often feel abstract.

But what made this conversation stand out was the willingness of participants to engage beyond the surface. Around each table, young professionals shared challenges, reflected on their own habits, and opened up about the gaps between where they are and where they want to be. That level of vulnerability is not always easy, but it is where real growth begins.

This is what YPN is designed to do. Create intentional spaces where emerging leaders can not only learn, but connect, challenge themselves, and grow alongside others who are on a similar path. When young professionals are willing to show up in that way, to be honest, to listen, and to take action, it creates momentum that extends far beyond a single lunch conversation.

Because success is not built in isolation. It is built in rooms like this.
